Our Story.

A simple poke bowl consists of a base, a topping, and a sauce. At Go Fish Poke , Chef Jerome Ito begins with the simple poke bowl and expands it to a greater dimension. You make each selection: from crab to tuna, atop a base of rice, fresh greens, or chips, in a housemade sauce – from a light citrus ponzu to a savory and spicy Togarashi mayo. No matter the combination created, each ingredient is highlighted and every bowl is balanced.

And that is only one part of Go Fish's culinary repertoire. To celebrate the Bay Area's diverse taste, Go Fish also offers fresh Japanese handrolls, vegan and gluten-free options, and evolving weekly specials . We are constantly experimenting with ingredients in our kitchen to only serve what is fresh, delicious, and exciting. From Hawaiian garlic shrimp to miso braised short ribs, Chef Ito will always bring something new to the menu.

CHEF JEROME ITO

Native to the famously eclectic and vibrant city of Los Angeles, Chef Jerome Ito is the co-founder and executive chef of Go Fish Poke. A fourth-generation Japanese yonsei, he grew up immersed in the Japanese and Hawaiian culinary traditions of his community, an early education that would go on to define his career. Chef Ito trained under revered sushi master Andy Matsuda, learning the discipline and technique behind the sacred art of sushi.

From there, he made his mark in Los Angeles's fiercely competitive sushi scene before being named Head Sushi Chef at Kitchen Sync, Google's first full-service sushi bar. There, he led Google's inaugural Sushi 101 classes as an instructor, all while running a kitchen that served Google HQ - dreaming up inventive pop-up specials for some of the Bay Area's most influential innovators and executives.

It was his creative reinvention of traditional Hawaiian poke that sparked something bigger:the concept resonated so strongly that he launched his own catering business, and soon after, Go Fish Poke Bar. His curiosity hasn't slowed since. Regular trips to Japan continue to sharpen his technique, introduce him to new tools and methods, and deepen his appreciation for the traditions at the heart of his cooking - inspiration he now channels into Go Fish Poke Bar and his newest ventures, Taro San Japanese Noodle Bar and Yutori.
